🌺 This week’s theme:
Good morning! I know it’s been an inconsistent week. I took advantage of the long weekend to hang out with family, and then promptly felt headachy and fatigued when I returned home. Feeling betterish today.
NOTE: Next week, I’ll be backpacking in Yellowstone Nat. Park (YAY!) and won’t be sending out the newsletter.
Today’s post is about visiting the most beautiful place in the world: a place you visualize and create in your mind through meditation.
What is mediation and why is it important?
Meditation is a practice where you focus your mind on something, like your breath or a calming image, to relax, reduce stress, and gain mental clarity. There are many apps out there (InsightTimer, Headspace, Simple Habit, etc.) that can help you learn how to meditate.
Prepare to meditate
Find a Quiet Space: Choose a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
Comfortable Posture: Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You can sit on a cushion or chair with your back straight and hands resting on your lap. PRO TIP: I don’t recommend lying in your bed unless you’re trying to fall asleep.
Focus on Breath: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Then, let your breath return to its natural rhythm. Pay attention to the sensation of your breath as it enters and leaves your nostrils or the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen.
Mediation: Visualizing Your Beautiful Place
I’ve provided a link to a free guided meditation from InsightTimer below. I did it this morning and highly recommend it.
I’d love to hear how the mediation went for you. Feel free to shoot me an email at dailyselfnewsletter@gmail.com or drop a comment. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you when I get back from Yellowstone!
